Fencing

An up-and-coming sport in Jersey, fencing is an ‘attack and defence’ sport and was included in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. The light swords — known as foils, épées or sabres —are used to hit the opponent to score points.

Jersey has one fencing club and offers Island-based competitions as well as trips to compete in the UK. Members were recently in action at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Scotland.
